Watching Donnie Darko - it's a bit strange but a good film, not the easiest film to understand first watch. Some very funny lines in it - so random.

Yesterday I watched King Kong. The film of 2005 - 2006?
I must admit that it was a good movie and I cried when Kong died at the end.

Couple of days ago watched Ben Hur - not the Charlton Heston 1959 version, but the 1925 silent version with Ramon Navarro - fantastic score (it's a silent film) and on a huge scale - and not all black and white. The chariot race set from the 1925 film was not dismantled, so they used it again for the 1959 film!

I've never watched a silent film - might be something to do with my age, have watched black and white and 'technicolour' ones.

Seem to be watching a few kids films - Beauty and The Beast, Monsters Inc and the Dark Crystal, gonna watch Labyrinth next

Funnily enough, I'm not actually old enough to have seen silent films in the cinema!! - or not the first time around, anyway. The way I discovered this film was that I was playing with the Liverpool Phil when they did two public performances of it; there was a huge screen behind the orchestra, and the guy who composed the music was conducting. We also made a CD of the music, but that was about 20 years ago, and the film has only just become available.

I've started to watch the Ross Kemp in Afghanistan dvd, the series which was on Sky One. It's really interesting so get an in depth insight into what military personnel experience within the confines of a war zone and the effects their deployments have on their families and friends.

I take my hat off to all those guys & girls.
