Dear friends,

In December last year, I read in the Holby Gazette (see attachment) that Simon would be touring the UK for 6 months. He would play the lead part in The Unexpected Guest.
I immediately booked my tickets, hotel and plane ticket to go to Glasgow in June.
Shelliwood already told me that he is no longer taking part in the play and that it was known longer that he would only take a break until April from Casualty.
I want to post a complaint to the Holby Gazette for bringing out wrong advertisements.
To do this, I need your help. I don't have their e-mail address and can't reach them. I already tried to register me as a member, but apparantly, they don't allow people outside the UK.
I already complaint to the Royal Theatre in Glasgow for also bringing out wrong publicity.
This trip cost me a lot of money, and I only wanted to do this to see Simon play live.

Can you help me to forward this complaint to the Holby Gazette?

Many thanks to you all and I'm sorry I am nagging a bit.

I had the same problem with the theatre I was going to, they named Simon in the casting and advertising but then changed it about a month ago, so I rang upto complain and try and get a refund and they claimed they had never said Simon would play the part, but they did I assure you. Anyway they said the cast was subject to change anyway, I got a refund but only 75% back! :x So im guessing you will get the same response but give it ago anyway, I dont know how to contact them though, sorry.

The problem of course is not only the tickets, I also have the hotel booked and the airplane tickets.
Perhaps I should give it a try. I have a phonenumber of the theatre.
I do remember that they said on the phone, when I ordered the tickets that they are not refundable.
Pff, what a mess...

I'm really sorry for you Heidi. I wish there was an easy answer to this, but I don't think there is one.

When I origonally went to get my tickets, I rang the theatre listed on their website, and when I asked for tickets they said it wasn't even coming to the theatre! So I complained to holby gazette..

It's a real shame you wont get to see Simon, and I hope you can at least get a refund

Kerri,

Can you let me know how I can put a complaint to the Holby Gazette?
I got nothing, nor phonenumber, nor e-mail address...
I don't get my hopes too high for a refund.
But I will try anyway.

Thank you all for your support.

Ciao,

I will send a complaint to that address immediately, thank you Kerri.
I did not have the opportunity to call the theatre, but I will surely keep you all updated about this.

Have a lovely weekend!

I wrote an e-mail yesterday to the Holby Gazette and this was their reply:

Hi Heidi,

Whilst I can understand your great disappointment, unfortunately
holby.tv cannot be made liable for this.

Whilst we report on news, we cannot be held responsible for changes
made by third parties after we have reported on them despite our best
efforts to keep them regularly updated and as accurate as possible. In
the news article we stated that people should refer to the theatre to
check appearances/ dates and our disclaimer also covers us in this
event;

Sorry we can't be of further help,

Best Wishes

Cheryl
Holby.tv

And then I checked at the internet to the website of Theatre Royal Glasgow and found this statement:

Disclaimer:
Glasgow Theatres Ltd reserve the right to alter the advertised programme or facilities if necessary.

I think I can forget it to claim my money back. I will discuss this with my husband and see what he says. If he says not to go, than we loose about £60. Or we can go (until now this trip already costs us around £350) and try to make the best of it.
Pfff, I hate this. :x

What would you do?

Bad luck it does sound as if they have managed to wangle their way out of this.

I have written an e-mail to the producer of the play this morning.
I am curious if he will reply to it.
On his site, it still says that Simon is playing in it and all the dates until June are still on it.
I just have to wait and see if I get a reaction.

A disappointed fan... :(

I just received an answer from the production house of the Unexpected Guest.
This is his reply:

Dear Heidi

Thank you for your email.

I was sorry to read about your situation - I will have to look into the whys and wherefores of this, which will take some time, but if in the meantime you would like to cancel your theatre tickets please let me know by return and I will look into this for you to see if it is possible.

Kind regards
Steve

I replied to him, if he can get a refund of the tickets for me, I certainly want to cancel them.

As usual, I will keep you all informed about this issue.

Saluukes,
(is Dutch for Bye)

I would imagine he would get a refund for you without much hassle.

I once had a refund for a show, but I didn't ask the theatre, I got it from the tour manager of the act.

Good news though Heidi.

I don't get my hopes too high on this. Otherwise I will be disappointed again :D
But I am convinced that Steve of the production house is really going to try.

Yesterday I received an email saying that I will get a refund for my tickets! I have to send them back and as soon as they receive them, they will take care of refunding my money.
But me and my husband are still going to Glasgow, but not to the theatre anymore.
Me and my husband are going to me meet our lovely Clare overthere. Arrangements have already been made. I can't wait anymore.
:drinks:
