Every ear of corn contains 3 corns. So the squirrel goes actually out with 1 ear of corn and that is why it takes 9 days.
Correct? Or am I still over thinking it?

I really can't think of anything else. I'm sure it will be very simple, but I always overlook the simple things in life.
Why don't you give us the answer. Afterwards I can let you know if it was simple or not.

You are going to get this one right - I'll give you a clue how many ears on a squirrel?

Yep, I got it. A squirrel itself has 2 ears, she takes every day 1 ear of corn and so it takes her 9 days to get.
Of course it is simple, you just need to see it.
