Does anyone have any background information of Simon's middle names CHARLES PRENDERED. My stab in the dark would be his father's Christian name and his mother's maiden name, can anyone confirm?

Pendered is his mothers maiden name (as said in the 2nd fan club newsletter.) His father's name isn't Charles so not sure where that comes from.

I don't know, but my guess would be that Charles was a grandfather. unsure.gif

Or maybe his mother and father couldn't decide on what to call him , Simon or Charles? My parents couldn't my mum wanted Rebecca (incase I was to become a lawyer, it would sound respectable!) My dad on the other hand wanted Jayne, and seen as my mum had given birth she got her way!
The only thing I think they ever agreed on was getting a divorce!
So yeah thats my theory!

Here in Belgium it is custom to give the names of the godmother and godfather as second and third name.
My name is Heidi Maria Frans.
what are yours?

I haven't a middle name either my parents said it was cause I had a long surname but I don't suppose they thought at the time I'd get wed. I've got a short surname now compared to the one I was born with.

who uses his middle name anyway?
It is only for official matters, like weddings, that these names are pronounced.
Otherwise nobody knows them.

I've got a friend who uses her middle name instead of her first name.

Middle names do have a purpose, it's so you know when you're in trouble. At home if I hear 'Michele Ann' it means I've done something wrong somewhere!

When did the 'good girl' era stop then? My parents didn't get to the shouting stage, just that glare to say "just try" with the frowned eyebrows was a big enough warning.

I'm sure someone will come up with an explanation to 'Charles' conundrum.

I am still a good girl. For the outside world it is. It is just a matter about knowing when and where to be naughty. :P
My parents also never had to shout at me. When my mother said that she would tell my father, I was scared like hell. Not that my father was strict, but still he scared me. Silly actually because now I have a good relation with him. When I was still living at home, I never actually talked to him. Now we do that a lot.
