I know there's a few of us who play so I have a question,

Recently after playing guitar I get this nasty pain in my left shoulder and also during playing I keep getting painful pins and needles in my left hand and fingers (when I change chord) Anyone any advice? Am I maybe sitting in the wrong position or something? It's never happened before, only the last couple of months!
Any advice would be apreciated!! :)

It might be that your shoulder is inflammed and that is why the pain runs through your arm. But if you feel pins and needles in your hand, that means probably that a nerve is involved.
Perhaps it's got nothing to do with playing your guitar in the wrong way, it is just a stimulator for the pain.
Best thing to do is to go to the doctor and ask for a scan of you neck and shoulder. It might be something you can deal with quickly with medications.

I understand that you are not keen of going to a doctor, but if a nerve is involved you better go immediately. I know what it is to have constant nerve pain in my arm.
I don't want to scare you of course, but a nerve does not heal as good as other parts in your body. You better don't wait too long, for your own good.
I used to do the same and now I have a damaged nerve in my left arm for which nothing can be done anymore. The situation of mine is completely different, but don't let it come so far.
Nerves are very important wires in our body, without them we have no feeling or movement in our muscles.

Do be carefull. It may be gone for now, the pain that is. But it does not mean that the problem is gone. I don't want to terrify you, but I know what it is to have nerve pain and it is very painful.
I don't think you are hypocondriact. If you have pain, it means that your body is telling you something. One thing I learned the last year is that it is very important to listen to your body. It is up to you, but go immediately to a doctor the moment you feel it again.
