It's a 'static' musical it will only be in the London Palladium for Simon's 6 months

I'm working in London on the 6th September, and it's my Mum's 70th birthday on the 9th, so I've managed to persuade her that she fancies going to The S.o.M. with me on the 8th!! I've also managed to persuade James to pay for the tickets, as I'm skint! :P Just hope Simon isn't ready for a day off by then. unsure.gif I'm also working in London in October, so I'm planning an evening off with my assistant/deputy daughter/friend - she's a thesp so I expect she'll be up for a West End evening. Clare has also suggested that we might come down together early next year, so lots to look forward to. Seen the film millions of times, but never on stage - should be good.

I'm working on it - at least trying to get a small run down from someone who's seen it.

Not likely to get it but I'm exploring all possibilities

We all know that you will do your best to get it. We won't shoot you if you don't succeed. :russian_roulette:

Hi all :)
(I hope it's ok to post this here .. ? I'm still very new, lol)

Well, I caught the interview with Simon on the Breakfast News a
couple of days ago. It's what encouraged me to find a fan site of
his. I'm afraid I didn't record it, or immediately note down just what
was said, but I can give you the jist until someone finds a better
source.
Firstly he looked very fit and well and handsome in a smart jacket.
He was interviewed briefly by Bill Turnbull and Suzanna Reid (sp?)
Violinist Vannessa Mae was on the sofa too for a later interview.
Nothing earth shattering revealed I suppose, but he was his usual
charming, quietly confident, amusing self.
He said he wanted a change, to do something cheery and upbeat and
a musical like the Sound of Music fitted the bill.
He talked of an earlier break to go off and perform in the play Sleuth
which toured round the country.
I believe he said this was his first musical (you devoted fans will know)
He was asked if he had to sing and dance, and of course he will be.
He's rehearsed a form of the waltz and thinks it'll be lovely to see.
He's singing too. Also practising the whistle. He had hopes of learning to
use a proper bosuns whistle, but said that might be a step too far for him.
He was asked the ususal question about the differences between TV
performances and theatre. He likes the feedback from audiences.
Some performances the audience is more 'with' the actors than others.
He feels sometimes the cast have to work harder to gain their involvement.
Workload wise, he compared theatre work as being like a 'sprint', TV
work, to a 'marathon'. He said the two to three hours a day of a play
expended the same energies as a full weeks work, but in that short burst.
A matter of pace.
He was quizzed on whether the Austrians would have had a navy/captain.
He answered that the story showed that period of history when the Nazis
were taking control of Austrian lands and forces.
He had high hopes of being in the musical for a good 6 months, 'unless they
chuck me out' .

There, that's about all I can remember just now.
All paraphrased, but pretty close to what went on I think.

Cheers,
Bee x :)

Hi all,
Just a reminder here in this thread that Simon will be chatting
about his role in the Sound of Music tomorrow (28th Aug) on
ITV's 'This Morning' prog. Don't know the time tho'.
Enjoy.
