What's your interest in Barack Obama and and Democrats forthcoming U.S presidency? I don't know too much about their party policies but I believe it's great that the Americans have been open minded as to elect the 1st ever black president, let's hope he's afforded the opportunity to lead his country without any prejudices. Other nations could learn a few lessons.

I don't know enough in detail, but given Sarah Palin's thoughts on drilling for oil in Alaska, and not listing polar bears as endangered, I'm very glad that Obama did win!

And then there are some political promises you hear that you think "OMG, NO!" At least with Barack Obama, the promises are policies I can live with. The same wasn't true of the former regime.

He is an improvement on Bush but to be fair that would not take much.

Good point! However McCain supported Bush 90% of the time. Scary.

Only 3 days till Mr Obama takes office in the White House, I can't see him providing us with any Bush(ism) type statements. George.W. was always good for a laugh.

Yep, today is the day for him. I have not followed the elections. It is always the same. Politicians promise a whole lot of things and never make them happen. Barack won't be any different. But as Clare stated, he might be a bit more educated as Bush. Although I always said that Bush had the head and face to be a president. Don't know why, can't explain. But he certainly did not have the brains.

The Obama family looked beautiful yesterday, the 3 women in the president's life looked rightly proud of their man. I thought he carried off his inauguration perfectly, I hope the American people and wider world allow him the time to fulfill his ambitions.

I think he's got similar charisma and personality to President Clinton, I liked Bill even allowing for his well publicised indiscretion. Up till now, he was my favourite leader of the free world.

I was horrified to learn, via The Wright Stuff, that 71% of Americans think Obama will sort the economy in one year!! I think he shows great potential - and closing Guantanamo Bay is a great start - but I just hope that people will give him time, because the mess he's been left to deal with is going to take more like one term than one year to sort.

Seems like the 71% should have Gordon Brown in charge cos he's saying that's how long it's gonna take him to fix our economy . . .

Oh look a flying pig

I'm still miffed about the current interest rate as a saver I'm worse off!

Apparently, President Obama is organising for Susan Boyle to sing for wife Michelle's birthday which is January 17th - how's that for an official seal of approval?

I'd to  yesterday when President Obama was in Ireland drooling over his Irish heritage, his last known relative departed for the U.S 161 years ago - am I being cynical in thinking he's on the election trail for (Irish) American votes? I suppose he's already 1 up with the recent capture and death of Bin Laden, next section of the American electorate could be maintaining the African American vote.
